One name, many archives

Trace Your Family

Type an ancestor's name once. We build the search for dozens of African American genealogy databases, and each one opens that archive's own results in a new tab.

Your search stays in your browser. The Hub does not see or store the names you type. Birth year sets aside databases from before or after the person's lifetime and narrows Ancestry and Find a Grave; the state chooses which state archives appear first.

Genealogist's Tip

Every archive spells names its own way. If a full-name search finds nothing, use the Surname only link under each button to catch spelling variants, middle initials, and records that list only a last name.
